Christmas Tag!

My friend Crystal tagged me the other day. She was procrastinating instead of writing report cards. I am procrastinating instead of going to sleep!

1. Wrapping paper or gift bags?
I love wrapping paper and bows made out of nice ribbon, but I'm a perfectionist and this takes too long. Often, I'm lazy and often resort to something easier. (something easier = Jacob's wraps and I do the bows and tags)
2. Real tree or Artificial?
Funny story about this one. We bought artificial a few years ago since we'd be traveling and I didn't want the huge fire hazard of a drying out tree...a few months ago, I thought we'd be moving WAY before Christmas and I wouldn't need our fake one anymore. So we gave it away. We didn't move and now I have NO room for a real one. It really hurt to go spend money on another fake tree.
3. When do you put up the tree?
Saturday after Thanksgiving usually. This year we waited another week in order to give me less time chasing children away from the tree.
4. When do you take the tree down?
Whenever the uncontrollable urge to clean and organize my house after Christmas comes.
5. Do you like eggnog?
No---Jacob does, though!
6. Favorite gift received as a child?
A pair of scissors in my stocking around age 10? I LOVED crafts, cutting, glue, etc. and used to steal my Mom's scissors. So she got me my own. I had them until this past year when a student lost them at school!! :(
7. Hardest person to buy for?
Dad's - although Jacob's Dad usually gives a list and my Dad has gotten a picture calendar from Snapfish for the past 3 years.
8. Easiest person to buy for?
the kids. Will has enough stocking stuffers to stuff 10 stockings! Oops...
9. Do you have a nativity scene?
Yes - the Fisher Price Little People one is central in our house right now.
10. Mail or email Christmas cards?
Neither. So don't feel slighted if you don't hear from us! Maybe I'll post one on the blog.
11. Worst Christmas gift you ever received?
hmmm, can't think of anything in particular. Oh wait - last year my Uncle Scott gave me a talking parrot.
12. Favorite Christmas Movie?
Elf.
13. When do you start shopping for Christmas?
I'm always shopping for Christmas!
14. Have you ever recycled a Christmas present?
Absolutely--I'm a teacher...it's not that the gifts are great...you just get so many that I just think of it as sharing your good fortune:) (This was Crystal's answer - I copied!)
15. Favorite thing to eat at Christmas?
gingerbread cookies, apple cider
16. Lights on the tree?
WHITE!!! (Jacob likes colored. booooooo.)
17. Favorite Christmas song?
I LOVE Christmas songs. This year I'm totally lovin' these FREE downloads from Oprah. (They're only up for a short time, so download ASAP!! I did it at Thanksgiving and they only lasted about a day.) Especially Amy Grant's version of O Come All Ye Faithful.
18. Travel at Christmas or stay home?
In 2005 we left for Turkey on the 27th. In 2006, we left for Slovakia on Christmas day. In 2008, we're leaving for Disney World on the 26th. We like to travel.
19. Can you name all of Santa's reindeer?
Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donner, Blitzen, Rudolph? Anyone remember the movie, Prancer??
20. Angel on the tree top or a star?
We have nothing at the moment. We lost our CUTE star that I got last year! (I think it was in the box with the fake tree that got donated!)
21. Open the presents Christmas Eve or morning?
Apparently, we're going to open our presents for the entire two weeks leading up to Christmas. No, we don't celebrate Hannukah.
22. Most annoying thing about this time of the year?
After next week, I'll probably say the lines at Disney World. (We're going on the busiest week of the year - what were we thinking??) Right now, I'd say the traffic surrounding shopping areas!
23. Favorite ornament theme or color?
My favorite ornament is a really un-cute one that Jacob gave me for our first Christmas. He was so proud. Bless his heart. :) No matter how un-cute it is, it still hangs front and center on the tree.
24. Favorite Christmas dinner?
My parents always have prime rib!
25. What do you want for Christmas this year?
We already got a Wii. :)

Ok---All of you blog stalkers...I'm tagging...

Hugh loves Eggnog too. So much that he guzzles about half or three quarters of the carton on the WAY HOME from the store. Then he complains at how sick he feels. But does he change his ways? Nope.

I bought my own scissors when I was probably twelve so I wouldn't have to use my moms (she complained too). I still have mine and use them all the time and I'm sure I'll complain if my own children take them!
